COTTAGE GROVE - Robert Edgar “Bob” Hauck, 84, originally from Brainerd, Minn., died on Friday, April 3, 2026, from cancer.
Bob was born on February 24, 1942, to August and Hilda (Bender) Hauck. He married Kyong Hui An (also known as Penny) of South Korea in 1966. Shortly after the birth of his first son, Kim Robert, in 1968, they moved to the Madison area. After the birth of his second son, James August, in 1970, they settled in Cottage Grove.
The family became active members of Buckeye Evangelical Free Church (now Door Creek Church), and throughout his life, Bob sought to impact people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His dying wish was for everyone to accept God's salvation and come to HIM!
Bob served in the U.S. Army from about 1962 to 1966, stationed in Korea, where he met his future wife. Eventually he would find his way back to the military with the National Guard, where he would serve around 20 years, including deployment in the Iraq War. He retired from Oscar Mayer with over 30 years of service, followed by over 10 years at Home Depot.
Bob was very active in the church, notably as an Awana director, but he was also active in the community as an EMT volunteer for around 15 years. In those capacities, he had the honor to save lives, both spiritually and physically.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Penny; parents, August and Hilda; older brother, Don; older sister, Mabel and her husband, Merle Van der Velde; and younger sister Mary’s husband, John Erickson. He is survived by his younger sister, Mary; older brother Don’s wife, Shirley; younger son, James; oldest son, Kim; granddaughter, Megan Alber (Greg) and great-granddaughter, Madelyn; granddaughter, Mikayla Groonwald (Ben) and great-granddaughter, Myla; granddaughter, Jordan (Jason); and his wife, Mincha Kim.
A funeral service will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with Pastor Cal Steiner presiding. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
