Obituary

STOUGHTON - Virginia Ruth “Ginny” Geen of Madison, Wis., died on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Stoughton Meadows in Stoughton, Wis. Virginia was born in Silex, Mo., on Nov. 16, 1935, to Ruby Guy (Fountain) and Virgil Weimer. She graduated from Silex High School in May of 1953. Virginia then went to the Salvation Army Training College in Chicago, Ill., to become a Lieutenant serving as a Salvation Army officer Ministering to ladies at Women’s Hospital of Milwaukee, Wis. She met the future love of her life and married Raymond Earl Geen on July 3, 1957. Virginia worked as a nursing assistant and anesthesia tech in the Operating Room of the UW Hospital, where she retired after 30 plus years. Virginia loved camping, gardening, crocheting, playing Uno with friends and playing the organ and tambourine. She loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that always made her smile. Virginia had a strong Christian faith, and her compassion, love and smile filled a room. She truly was a woman that led by example, both in faith and in life.


Virginia is survived by two siblings, Mary Ann Garvine and Willard (Jeanie) Weimer; four children, Kenneth (Julie) Geen, Paul (Jullie) Geen, Douglas Geen and Virginia Geen; four grandchildren, Kevin (Samantha) Geen, Michelle Geen (Fiancé Dj Carson), Jennifer Kohls (Stacey Tropp) and Lacey Santos; four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jameson, Everett and Emersyn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Geen; and brothers, Virgil Guy Weimer and Don Weimer.


Visitation will be at the Mausoleum at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, Wis., from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023, followed by a short service at 2 p.m. Entombment will be held right after the service.


The family would like to thank Stoughton Meadows for the great care and compassion they showed to our mother and St. Croix Hospice for all the help and care over the years, especially nurses, Lori and Amy. A special thank you to Chaplain David Borton who would come to minister and sing songs on his guitar. In leu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice group. God Bless.

To the Geen family, my heart aches with you. I remember so many good times with Virginia and with Ray. I especially want to share about their inclusivity of all, especially us Howell’s kids. We had good times at their campground. Thank you Virginia for the many years of love you shown to me and my siblings and other children of the Corps. You are and will always be loved by me. Thank you for always including us and showing so much kindness towards us and our mother. God’s blessings to the family. May you feel God’s presence during this trying time.
