Obituary
MONONA - Samantha A. “Sammy” Schwartz, age 31, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on Oct. 30, 1991, in Madison, the daughter of Paul and Patrice (Rehrauer) Schwartz.
Sammy graduated from Monona Grove High School in 2010, entered the liberal arts transfer program at Madison College a year later, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. She began working as an eyelash technician and in 2019, she opened her own business, Bewitched Lash Studio. In 2020, she acquired her esthetician’s license from Aveda Institute in Madison. She had recently joined A Healer’s Hand within the spa community.
Among Sammy’s passions were coffee clutches and happy hours with her parents, schmoo nights with her friends, traveling with family and friends (Ireland, England, Amsterdam, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii), glamping with her “Mama” and her friends, hiking, reading, working out, attending concerts with her parents often being the youngest to attend, and being a “foodie” extraordinaire. She also had a passion for tattoos, with much canvas yet to cover. She cared deeply about animals, the environment, and women’s issues.
Sammy’s vibrant personality and radiant smile lit up any room she entered. As Sammy’s brother Matt said, “You don’t just see Sam when she enters a room. You hear Sam.” She had a gift of making anyone she met feel important and that she was only there for them. Sammy was fiercely independent, had no pretense or ego, and lived life passionately and to the fullest. A favorite mantra of hers was “Life’s too short for matching socks.”
Sammy is survived by her parents; her brother, Matthew or Matty as Sammy affectionately called him; and her sweet Pomeranian fur baby, Fern. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald and Dorothy Rehrauer, Harold and Aileen Schwartz, Margaret Schwartz and H. Celeste Downs.
