CROSS PLAINS - Margaret Karen Kelter, age 79, of Cross Plains, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on May 27, 1943, the daughter of Eva (Jensen) Chase.


Margaret met and married Lee Kelter in Black Earth. They lived on the family farm for over 50 years. Together, they enjoyed the simple things in life. Prior to retirement, Margaret worked for Terry's Piggly Wiggly in Cross Plains, working as a cook in the deli department from 1994-2015. In her free time, Margaret enjoyed reading, cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting, puzzles, games, and playing Bingo and cards, always enjoying life’s simple pleasures.


Margaret is survived by her son, Mathew Lee (Kevin Bormett) Kelter; daughter, Evette Wierson; six grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Chase; step-father, Raymond Chase; husband, Lee Kelter; sister, Diane; and brother, John.
