Obituary

OREGON - Christy I. Thomas, of Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 10, 2023, after a brief stay at St. Mary's Hospital, with her family nearby. She was born in Virginia, Minn., the daughter of Greg and Irene (Grosskopf) Rouleau.


Christy graduated from Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Madison, Iowa, and from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Prior to retirement, Christy worked as a manager for the State of Wisconsin for 25 years. She was a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church in Oregon.


Christy enjoyed traveling, especially when she was able to visit with family.  She liked to cook and entertain, and she took great joy in caring for others. Christy also liked reading, knitting and crocheting, and she was a cat lover!


Christy is survived by her son, Craig (Adrienne) Thomas; and sisters, Mary (Brian) Mitchel and Laurie Rouleau. She was preceded in death by her parents.


A celebration of life is being organized for a future date. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA or to the Dane County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Chris was a long time friend and co-worker and she will be sorely missed by so many, many people. She was intelligent, generous, funny and a joy to be around. My condolences to her family for their loss, but happy that her struggles are over.

I met Chris 24 years ago when we were part of a Renew2000 group at church. The group has stayed together and grown in friendship and love. She was such a wonderful friend. My first day of work at the State Office Building, 10/31/1994, I will always remember. Christy was my boss and, being Halloween, dressed as an eggplant, of course. Christy was an amazing boss! Her kind heart and wisdom was only second to her wonderful wit and humor. She is already deeply missed.
