Blew me away to see that young vibrant Kate had passed away. We worked together on a WCC (Wisconsin Conservation Corps) crew in 1984 out of the Nevin Fish Hatchery in Fitchburg. I was the crew leader and Kate was one of the feisty and hard-working members of the crew. She was always quick and clear in lending her opinion and strong back. It made our year-long crew a fun and productive unit. We learned a lot from working together and I've always admired her forthrightness, integrity and sense of humor. We lost track of each other, as I did with the rest of our WCC crew, but I count that year as a great work and friendship experience that I'm happy to have been part of even after all of these years. I don't know how you got taken at your young age Kate, but I'll keep you close to my heart, as I expect you've done with the friends in your life. All the best to your family and friends left behind.
