EVANSVILLE / STOUGHTON - Ashley Anne Thornton, age 31, of Evansville, and her unborn daughter, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 3, 2023. This spirited young lady was born on Feb. 17, 1992, to Randy and Susan (Taylor) Thornton and was dearly loved from that moment forward. She had a special bond from the beginning with her maternal grandmother who was there for her delivery.


Ashley graduated from Stoughton High School in 2010. She continued her education at Elite Nail School, eventually becoming an instructor there before opening Victory Nail Academy in 2021. If you were lucky enough to know Ashley, you know she had a passion for teaching and fashion. She opened Sculpted Nails by Ash in Oregon in 2016, Pink Cactus Trading Post in 2021 and was passionate about her leather creations, A.T. Leather Craft. Ashley was an accomplished individual who won several international awards for her nail designs.


Outside of her businesses, Ashley’s family was her entire world. In 2017, she became a mom to Randy who she adored and was her precious little man. Together with her loves, Dan and Randy, they made their home in Evansville filled with dogs and chickens. If you knew Ashley, you knew she loved her animals! She and Dan were over the moon to meet their new baby girl, due in August.


Ashley is survived by her son, Randy Arneson; partner in life, Daniel Arneson; mother, Susan Thornton Horn; brother, Michael Thornton; step-father, William Horn; grandmother, Eddie Seamonson; step-daughters, Hailey and Aubrey Arneson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and step-siblings. She was preceded in death by her father, Randy Thornton; and step-grandfather, Darrell Seamonson.


A private funeral service will be held. Burial will follow at Lutheran South Cemetery.

I went to Elite with Ashley and worked with her at the beauty supply too. She was insanely talented, and not just in nails but all of her artistic pursuits. Driven and passionate, a good leader and a good friend. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. I know she loved her family so much. My heart breaks for her boys. She will always live in my memory as the shining light she was. So much love to all of you.

I know Ashley and I had our ups and downs but she did help shape me into the nail tech I am today. I'll never forget being deathly terrifed to give her a pedi before Randy was born but she taught me a lot. I'll be forever grateful for all I learned from her.
