MAZOMANIE - Mitchell J. Castleman, age 55, of Mazomanie, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born to Melvin and Ruth Castleman on Nov. 11, 1967, in Watertown.
In 1977 his family moved to Beaver Dam. He attended Beaver Dam High School, where his love for music began as a drummer. In his early 20s he was a printer for News Publishing Company in Black Earth. In 1997 he met his future wife, Anna Aeschlimann and they were married on May 16, 1998. Mitch switched gears in 1999 and became a sheet metal fabricator for Action Heating and Dane Manufacturing.
Mitch was a huge Packers and Brewers fan and an avid reader with an extensive library. He enjoyed Sci-fi and History and collected maps from around the world. He loved jamming to tunes with his buddies. He put down the sticks and was a self-taught guitar player, playing bass for the Sled Dogs and the Black Rose bands. He loved target shooting, yearly kraut making with family, seeing how big of a bonfire he could build, and so much more.
Mitch is survived by his wife of 25 years, Anna; sisters, Terry (Richard) Gourley of Beaver Dam and Amanda (Tim) Konkel of Columbus; brothers, twin Justin (Beth) Castleman of Franklin and Phillip (Kristin) Castleman of Hillsboro; brothers-in-law, Brian (Dana) Aeschlimann of Madison, Todd (Sara) Aeschlimann of Black Earth and Jeff (Liese) Aeschlimann of Jupiter, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Kate (Kevin) Lucey of Black Earth and Jenny Pappas of Rhinelander; step-daughter, Kesha (Jeromy) Chamberlain of Arena; and grandchildren, Chase Fischer, Cash Wynstra and Hayley Chamberlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ruth Castleman; infant brother, Micheal; in-laws, Fred and Joann Aeschlimann; stepdaughter; Marlena Schlub; and brother in-law, Jamie Pappas.
Mitch,
Our life together was a novel. The beginning, love at first sight. The middle, a rollercoaster filled with excitement, adventure, wonderful memories and more than our share of sadness. The end, wishing there could have been a sequel. You will forever be my most treasured book. I love you always, Anna.
