Obituary
MADISON - Dorothy M. Langetieg, age 98, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023. Dorothy was born on Oct. 21, 1924, in Columbus, Wis., the ninth of 17 children born to Carl and Elsie (Affeldt) Miller.
Dorothy graduated from Fall River High School and married her high school sweetheart, Floyd “Mike” Sauer, on Nov. 18, 1942. Together they had five children. In 1971, she began working as a mail carrier for the Fall River Post Office and retired as postmaster in 1984, following Mike’s passing.
In her retirement, Dorothy enjoyed watching birds, playing cards, especially cribbage and euchre, reading, baking and spending time with her family and friends. She was united in marriage to Alvin "Allie" Langetieg on Feb. 11, 1988. Together they enjoyed a joyful and simple life, filled with laughter and occasional travels and visits to local casinos.
After Allie’s passing in 2011, Dorothy relocated to the Madison area, where she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Michael (Patti) Sauer, LeAnn Van de Grift and Lynne (Michael Trotter) Sauer; daughters-in-law, Charlotte Sauer and Rhonda Langeteig; grandchildren, Boyd (Julianne) Janny, Craig Janny, Tyler (April) Janny, Matthew (Sarah) Sauer, Tina (Mike) Harshbarger, Toni (Jamie) McGee, Troy (Beth) Sauer, Kara (Michael Wreath) Van de Grift, Broc D'Antoni, Tess (fiancé, Brian Smith) D'Antoni, Nikki Trotter, Amy (Tony) Hilliard, Travis and Angie Peterson; and great-grandchildren, Michael (fiancée, Priscilla Cartwright) Janny, Danielle Janny, Scott Janny, Ashley (Cory) Dahl, Sam Janny, Jake Janny, Dalton Stadler, Matias Sauer, Nichelle Veien, Tucker and Max McGee, Maddie Sauer, Jackson Sauer, Emerson Wreath, Tyler Schwartz, MacKenna Schwartz, Cameron Schwartz, Mason Hein and Austin Hein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Floyd “Mike” Sauer and Alvin “Allie” Langetieg; children, Lois Janny, Mark Sauer and Dennis Langeteig; grandson, Lance Janny; and her 16 siblings.
