Obituary

MADISON - Frederick W. “Fred” Lickel Jr. 80 passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare Center with his family by his side. He was born in Lancaster, Wis., on April 28, 1943, to Frederick Lickel and Alice (Gruenwald) Lickel.


Fred proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He served as a sheriff's deputy, a patrolman, and later owned several small businesses and was owner of Complete Auction Service in Monroe, Wis. He married Pamela on Aug. 28, 1993, in Blanchardville.


Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Stanley. He is survived by his wife, Pamela; daughters from a previous marriage, Robin and Heather Lickel; and his sister, Lois Sherwin. He is further survived by stepchildren, Chuck (Paulette) Carter and Kimberly (Michael) Sloan; step-grandchildren, Elise, Mackenzie and Addie; as well as many friends and extended family.


A Memorial Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023. Military rites will be conducted at 5 p.m.
