It is simply unfair that Micol was taken from this world so soon. He was such a sweet young man with the biggest heart. I know he was a big animal lover who we are told loved all creatures, including our 3 dogs, and they loved him right back!!! We are thankful that he was able to spend a day playing with our pups not long before he passed and we just know there are lots and lots of animals in heaven who will love him up!
May he rest in peace and love. Our deepest condolences to Susie, Curt and all of Micol’s family and friends.
❤️Angelica, Nick, Lynnea, Evan & the pugs.

When I first met Micol, our relationship was a troubled one. I, a green teacher and child care provider, just trying to establish order and structure out of the chaos of an empty classroom amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Micol, a boy of nine years, simply trying his best to make good of a situation he felt was unfair and unfavorable - more than I realized. However, I learned more about my new student, and through conversation and some friendly games of Checkers and Chess when time allowed, he learned more about his teacher. I learned about our similar family histories and experiences as well as our shared passion for making people laugh and practicing martial arts. He learned about how committed I was to ensuring every student under my wing was well taken care of to the best of my ability, and in time, we trusted each other. In time, we became good friends. Student and teacher. He once told me he felt he had learned in a year with me how to be a good person, and I told him that he had helped me to be a better one. Around that time, unlike initially, he was often smiling when he was in my classroom. I was always happy when he would arrive. Among the many students I got to know while I ran that classroom, Micol was among my very best. When I left my position, Micol was among the few whom I told about my departure early. He was sad, of course, but I told him that when I saw him again, perhaps we would talk as fellow black belts rather than simply a teacher to a student. I hope I had given him some happy memories. Throughout all the strife he suffered quietly, he remained a good person. He deserved to be happy. I wish we could have talked again so we could talk about how nerve-wracking it was to be preparing for our black belt tests.
To his family, particularly his mother, whom I had met and spoken with a few times when I was his teacher, I am truly sorry for your loss. I cannot offer much, unfortunately, but know that Micol had a true friend and was a true friend. I daresay he was the best male student I had, and he will not be forgotten.
