Obituary
MADISON - Karen Lea Burdick, age 71, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023. She was born on Dec. 6, 1951, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of John Kipila and Beatrice (Wold) Kipila.
Karen was a graduate of LaFollette High School. She worked for the Madison School District before retiring in 2013. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the LDS Church and served them faithfully. Karen was very generous, loving and kind with a little sprinkle of sass. She was the neighborhood mom and accepted everyone as family.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Melody (Scott) Ottman, Patricia Horan and Ashley Burdick; sons, Michael Burdick and Matthew Burdick; grandsons, Kyle Ottman, Robert Burdick, Alec Burdick, Aidan Horan, Parker Horan, Ryan Burdick, Kaden Burdick and Kaleb Burdick; granddaughters, Katelyn Ottman, Tayler Burdick and Kendyl Burdick; great-granddaughter, Mia Burdick; and sisters, Lynn (Dale) Hanson, Karol (Gary) Smith and Pamela (Steve) Keller; many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Kyra Ottman.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023.
