Obituary

MADISON - Natalie Marie Patrick, age 16, died very unexpectedly in her family’s Madison home on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023. She was born on Nov. 2, 2006, the beloved daughter of Gloria Babcock and Philip Patrick.

Natalie attended East High School in Madison. She was a go-getter and a goal oriented young woman who worked at Metro Market to earn the things she wanted. Natalie had an adventuresome spirit, ready to ride the fastest and highest roller coasters, jump in a helicopter, or try any new experience offered. While Natalie was very independent, she also enjoyed quiet time with her family, trying new recipes, spending time with pups, Link and Oscar, and listening to music.

Natalie will be deeply missed by her parents, Gloria and Philip; brother, Nathanial Patrick (17); and grandparents, Rhonda Babcock of Madison and Jody and Kevin Patrick of Jacksonville, Fla. She is also survived by aunt, Carmen Verdecia and cousins, Levi, Cora and Serena of Madison; aunt, Regina Jones and cousins, Lamya and Latrell of Madison; aunt, Summer (Richard) Kelly and cousin, Patrick of Chicago; and aunt, Brook Glynn and cousin, Alexander of Chicago.

Private funeral services were conducted by Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023.

There will never be enough words to express what Natalie meant to her family or the immensity of the grief felt by her leaving, but she will remain forever in our hearts and in that way, we will keep her flame burning.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

my best friend. i’ll never get to say goodbye. i love you so much nat. you were an amazing friend, you were always there for me when i needed someone. i always knew if i needed someone i could call you. i always felt so safe and comfortable with you. when i was with you all of my bad thoughts went away, all of my sadness went away, i felt nothing but happiness around you. you were so beautiful nat, your smile, your eyes, your hair. i’m going to miss your face time calls. i wish i could hug you, see you, and hear your voice again. i love you more than anything natalie. i don’t know how i’m going to live without you. you wanted to move to nyc when we turned 18 and get a nice apartment together, get good paying jobs, meet new people, and live our best lives. you loved listening to lil durk and von, you used to blast it all the time omgg i miss you so much. i miss screaming our hearts out to music when we were sad, i miss going on walks and having deep conversation with you, i miss ding dong ditching with you, i miss being in class with you, i miss when you came over and we did nothing but watch movies and eat, i miss when you’d come over and we would chill and not even talk. i miss feeling your hugs, i miss hearing your voice, i miss smelling your scent. this feels so unreal to me. i love you i’ll see you soon baby i love you so much💔. i haven’t been myself since i found out you were gone, i feel so numb, i’ve been crying non stop. i’m gonna miss you so much. rest easy my love 🤍. - love vanessa. my condolences to nats family and loved ones. she loved you guys, be strong everyone.

My heart is so broken in to so many pieces. And I can’t imagine the broken hearts of Natalie’s family members. I first met Natalie at McDonald’s when we were working. Red short hair , pony up high, and she was taking an order. I remember thinking about how pretty she was and that I wanted to be friends. I never knew the question “ hey what is your name” would build such chemistry between two beautiful young girls. we became two best friends working at McDonald’s an 7-3 shift. , exhausted , independent , but we managed to make the most beautiful and most funniest memories ever. I remember how excited you were talking about having kids in the future and becoming a mom. My sweet girl… you will never get to have the chance to stand on that stage, gown on, and holding your diploma. You will never get the chance to walk down the aisle of your beautiful wedding day with your father, your mother wont get the chance to tell you how beautiful you look in your dress. You will never get the chance to become the mother you always wished to become. The family you wished to build in the future. I love you Natalie, the sunsets have became more beautiful. I stare at the sunset hoping that you are looking at me back. I miss you my sweet girl 💞

Natalie and I were close for the last few months. She repeatedly told me I was one of the only few that listened and understood her. When I found out she passed I took a very long few days just to process it. Natalie you meant so much to me. You were one of my best friends. The best part of my summer was being in DC with you. Working will be tough without you there. I’m glad you trusted me with everything you have told me. I’m sorry we never got to hangout like we wanted to, maybe another time <3 I hope you’re happier. -Love Caspian To the family - Natalie was an amazing person. She still is my favorite friend. She was very supportive of me, and always would talk with me about anything. I’ll miss her forever.❤️
