Obituary

OREGON - Mary S. Heath, age 57, passed away from a brain aneurysm, on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at St. Mary's Hospital.


She was born on Nov. 6, 1965, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of George and Jean (Schaub) Edwards. Mary graduated from Madison West High School in 1983. She also graduated from Beauty School and enjoyed expressing her creativity while styling hair. She was united in marriage to Randy A. Heath on Aug. 27, 1993, and they enjoyed 26 years together before his passing in 2020.


Mary devoted herself to her career at Journey Mental Health for over 30 years helping and supporting many individuals as well as making close friendships with colleagues.  She enjoyed creating a loving home where she spent time outdoors gardening, cooking and baking for her family and friends, and spending time with Ali and Adam and her two cats, Vegas and Titi. Mary had expressed her real purpose in life was her children.  She loved them immensely and was so proud of all their accomplishments and will always be close to their hearts when they need her.  After her husband, Randy, passed away, Mary focused on her own spiritual awareness and connecting with Randy.  


Mary is survived by her daughter, Ali (Kristal Pitera) Heath; son, Adam Heath; brothers, Mike (Sharon) Edwards and Pat (Lori) Edwards; brother-in-law, Gaylord Plummer; and many other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy; parents; and sisters, Amy and Cathy Edwards.


A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. @ Jackson St., Stoughton, at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Friday.

Mary was a warm and welcoming presence at Journey, and she went out of her way to help me when I ran into trouble and needed help on short notice as I was getting my bearings at the agency. She will be fondly remembered and missed. May her memory be a blessing and a consolation to those who loved her.

I will always remember and be grateful for Mary’s kindness. She loved her family so dearly and I always admired her ability to go above and beyond for the people in her life. She always knew what you needed and was there when it really mattered. I will miss her and think of her fondly.

Ali , Adam and the family of Mary Heath. My most sincere condolences. Mary was an absolutely wonderful person. She really cared about people, especially her kids. Both of you were the light of her life. I was so fortunate to know both of your parents. I was very lucky to have a job that allowed me to meet such a wonderful family. I only knew Mary for a short time, and I never worked directly with her, but I'll always remember her as one of the few people who introduced herself to me when I first started at Journey. I could always count on her for a smile, albeit behind a mask, I could see it in her eyes. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones; I'm so sorry for your loss.
