Marlene Genske

STOUGHTON - The world lost a kind, gentle soul when Marlene Victoria Genske, 81, passed away in her sleep on July 14, 2024. She was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Green Bay to Ray and Cerylla Reis. She grew up on her family's farm on the outskirts of Seymour, raised her children in Black Creek, and later returned to Seymour where she lived until moving to Stoughton in June 2021 to be closer to her daughter, Jane.

Marlene enjoyed all things food-related and loved to decorate her home, particularly during holidays. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she baked lots of wonderful treats to share with family and friends. She liked cheering on the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her four loving children and their spouses, Jane and Chris McSweeny, Tim Genske and Sylvia FerroNyalka, Sara and Ronnie Payne, and Tina DeLeon and Leticia Elder. She is also survived by grandsons, Stevie Ray and Xander Genske; sister, Danielle Reis; sister, Sandy Deadman and her husband, Bruce; brother, Mike Reis and his wife, Peg; and two nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marlene loved cardinals, and we will always think of her when we see them. Per Marlene's wishes, no formal services will be held.

Marlene's children thank the Skaalen Heights staff and the Agrace HospiceCare team for their assistance in caring for Mom during her final months of life.
