Obituary
OREGON/FITCHBURG-Dale R. Culp, age 84, of Fitchburg, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on May 20, 1932, in Madison, the son of Cecil Harold and Eleanor Janette (Spilde) Culp. Dale graduated from Oregon High School in 1950, and following high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He was united in marriage to Mary Buol on May 20, 1955. Dale had a strong work ethic, and was always working. He retired from MG&E in 1994 after 42 years. Dale loved gardening and spending time with his family, especially going camping and fishing. Dale and Mary loved to dance, and after retirement enjoyed learning how to square dance. They were also involved with ATRA (Airedale Terrier Rescue Adoption) and always had a dog in the family. Dale was a Packers and Badgers fan. He was a lifelong member of People's United Methodist of Oregon. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary; daughters, Karlene (Rick) Huckstadt of Lodi and Karen Culp of Madison; son, Steven (Cynthia) Culp of Oregon; granddaughter, Faith Majors-Culp of Oregon; sisters, Carlene Riley of Madison and Rita (Kenneth "Bud") Ricker of Alabama; sister-in-law, Ruth (Helmut) Jeschke of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ralph Thornton; son-in-law, David Fix; sister, Cecilla Thornton; brothers-in-law, Ed Riley and Francis Buol; and nephew, Victor Jeschke. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 12 noon, on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, with the Rev. Jason Mahnke presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made ATRA (Airedale Terrier Rescue Adoption) www.aire-rescue.org or to People's United Methodist Church of Oregon. We have been friends with Dale and Mary for over 50 years. Dale was Ted's boss right after he was discharged from the Air Force. He always said Dale was the best boss he ever had. Our friendship began then and has endured. We could always count on Dale for making us laugh, whether it was cooning watermelons or telling jokes. We spent many happy hours with him at Black Lake and in Florida. We will miss him dearly and look forward to a joyous reunion with him in heaven. Love and Friendship to you Mary and family. We knew Dale from our Florida park where we all spent winters. We enjoyed all the games of dominos, Mary's concerts, the dances, and singing in the choir with Mary, as well as all the "Sammys." Both Mary and Dale have been missed in our park. We are truly sorry about the loss. God bless Mary and the family.

Dale was the best neighbor anyone could ask for...especially when needing help fixing things at the house! Always willing to lend a hand, I loved hearing stories about the "old days" in Fitchburg. Dale and Mary often gave me wonderful vegetables from their garden. I will miss seeing Dale ride his mower around and our dogs running along the fence line with each other. Dale, the birds will miss you and the feeders you always filled for them. You were the best.

I have many fond memories of Dale and family having grown up just down the road. I was either at their house or Steve was at our house. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Dale was a wonderful man
