SUN PRAIRIE - Robert "Bob" Schenk, age 67, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1955, in Chicago, Ill., the son of John and Lucille (Knakfus) Schenk.


Robert graduated from Divine Heart Seminary in 1974. He was united in marriage to Elaine Pertzborn on July 23rd, 2011 in Madison. Robert worked as a restaurant owner for Lums, Cranberry Creek, Capitol Take Out and International Monetary System. He started his extensive career in the restaurant business by owning Lums in Monona and concluded with Capitol Take Out.


Robert loved his family very very much and had a deep faith and devotion to God. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family, watching sports, playing golf and taking his golden retriever, Charlie, to meet people. Bob just wanted to help people, and he would always put others’ needs before his own.


Robert is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Matthew (Alyssa) Kjin; daughter, Jennifer (Trevor) Tanck; four grandchildren, Easton Kjin, Micah Tanck, Chelsey Tanck and Brynlee Kjin; sister-in-law, Mary Schenk; brother-in-law, Arky Mastrangelo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Schenk; and sister, Merrilee Mastrangelo.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, and also from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

Together again. Dad and Uncle Bob were best buddies and loved that they shared Divine Heart together. I have no words to describe the void I feel right now. My Uncle Bob has always been there, for me and my family. My girls are heartbroken. Love you Uncle Bob
