Obituary
STEVENS POINT / MADISON - John Holie Johnson, age 94, ended his struggle with Parkinson's and passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, at Oak Park Place of Madison.
He is survived by his son, David (Billee) Johnson; daughter, Valerie (Bill) Le Grande; sister, Celeste Johnson; grandchildren, Jacob, Heather and Katherine; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Helen (Krug) Johnson; parents, Albert and Olga Johnson MD; brother, Albert; sister, Arlene; and friend, Alice.
Having a long career teaching math at UWSP, John also had remarkable woodworking skills that he used to help family, friends and his church.
John requested there be no service and asked to be interned privately in the manner in which he buried his wife, Helen.
Our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated caregivers at Oak Park and Agrace Hospice; they are very special people. He appreciated Madison VA Hospital that provides care for our vets; John liked going there. He gave generously to charities for the most needy, in many cases children. He will be dearly missed.
