Virginia "Ginger" Bopf

SUN PRAIRIE - Virginia Mae “Ginger” Bopf, age 87, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on March 21, 1938, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Arthur and Amalie (Ebeling) Kraemer.

Ginger graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1956. She married William Bopf on August 8, 1959, in Sheboygan, Wis. She worked in the nutritional health industry for many years and ended her working career as a childcare provider for Bee’s Haus, a childcare business that she and her husband, William, owned and operated out of their home in Lake Mills, Wis.  

Ginger was a friend of everyone she met. To know Ginger was to love her. She was a devoted member of the Valpo Guild, for Valparaiso University, assisting and organizing many of their fundraising events. Ginger was an active church member wherever they lived. Finally, and most happily, Ginger and William ended up as members at Luther Memorial Church in Madison, Wis. They will both be inurned in the church’s columbarium.

Ginger is survived by her children, Michael (Bonnie Chamberlain) Bopf and Elisabeth Kraemer; sister, Barbara Clausen; and grandchildren, Jude, Owen, Tylar and Makayla. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bopf; niece, Amalie Clausen; and parents, Amalie and Arthur.

Ginger leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by the many friends and family that survive her.

A memorial service will be held at LUTHER MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1021 University Ave., Madison, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025. A celebration of life will follow at NITTY GRITTY, 315 E. Linnerud Drive, Sun Prairie, from 3:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday.
