Daniel Stone

POYNETTE - Daniel Joseph Stone, age 66, passed away in the arms of his love, Lori, from a stroke that came from 31 years of living with polycystic kidney disease and then being a survivor of a kidney transplant at UW in 2014, from a live, paired exchange. He stayed stronger than most, through so much. It is now time for him to rest.

Dan was born in Madison, Wis, and graduated in 1975 from Madison West High School. He loved many types of music and a variety of instruments and musicians, being an avid guitarist himself for 50 years. Dan also loved the beauty and miracles of nature, traveling, and being near oceans, lakes, and streams. He enjoyed the views, the sounds of the waves, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, canoeing, and fishing while learning about nature and cultures all over the world. At home, he shared his passion for watching birds and wildlife with Lori. Together they expressed this through the art of wood intarsia as a little hobby.

Dan is already missed by the family he leaves behind, Lori Lloyd whom he married on July 15, 1983, in Lodi, Wis., making her his forever wife, Lori Stone; his mother-in-law, Darlene Lloyd; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary (Jane) Lloyd, Ron (Ann) Lloyd and Larry (Sharon) Lloyd. Dan is also survived by his brothers, Mike and Steve, and nieces, nephews, and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. “Chuck” Stone, and LaVerne “Vernsie” Stone; his father-in-law, Raymond L. Lloyd; and sisters-in-law, Karen Rae Lloyd Wenger and Lori Anne Cook Lloyd.

Memory sharing and a celebration of love will be held on July 15, 2023, which would have been Dan and Lori’s 40th wedding anniversary. Watch for updated final details.

Dan’s eye donation will hopefully help someone see! Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the family in Dan’s name for future memorials.
