STOUGHTON - Dennis M. Ebert, age 79, of Stoughton, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at his home. He was born on Feb. 15, 1943, in Milwaukee, the son of Glen and Leora (Giguere) Ebert. Dennis married Charlotte “Charlie” Nelson Ebert in 1978.


Dennis attended UW-Milwaukee and earned degrees in the culinary field and business. He was a master chef and a member of the National Restaurant Association. Dennis managed, owned and operated private country clubs and restaurants. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, socializing and being a licensed pilot.


Dennis is survived by wife Charlotte; children, Scott (Jen Heyer), Tim (Semra), Curt Barth, Scott (Patty) Barth and Craig (Jenny) Onsrud; grandchildren, Tressie Schwarze, Cayla Ebert-DeJaco, Madalynn, Madisyn, Nikole Scott, Cooper, Brooklyn, Pressly, Anna, Alyssa, Paige and Lexi; great-grandchildren, Sloan, Jamison and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lynn Marten.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. @ Jackson St., Stoughton, at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, withe the Rev. Scott Marrese-Wheeler presiding. Burial will follow at the Town of Dunn Burying Ground. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

I remember when Scott #1 was born! Such a happy occasion! I remember how Denny was so proud of being a chef and had so many creative ideas. One was how to make parsley not bitter: He would rinse it with cold water and then put it in a towel and wring it out. Then no more bitterness! I will always remember his smile! I'm glad he is in peace now!

Our sincere sympathy to “Charlie” and family. Our paths crossed in the north in Stone Lake. Dennis was a soft spoken and very kind man. He will be missed. He leaves great memories for those he leaves behind. RIP Dennis.

We enjoyed being neighbors with Dennis for several years up north at big sis. He was never at a loss for words and we enjoyed all of our chats together. Always offering a helping hand on projects. Our deep sympathies go to Charlie and his family.
