Meredith Thomas "MT" Hall

July 21, 1947 - January 13, 2023

Obituary

MADISON, Wis. - Meredith “MT” Hall, age 75, passed away peacefully at  home in Madison, Wis., on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023.  He was born on July 21, 1947, in LaGrange, Ga.,  the son of the late Horace Eugene Hall and Geneva Helton Hall and loving husband to Linda S. Hall.

MT was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the maiden voyage of the USS John F. Kennedy. After serving in the Navy, he worked at Georgia Pacific chemical in both Vienna, Ga., and Russellville, S.C. and after relocating to Virginia, he spent the remainder of his career in the environmental remediation field for several private companies and military contractors.  MT was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Moyock, N. C. In his free time, he could often be found atop a lawnmower, in a deer stand, exploring antique stores, telling stories, blacksmithing, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. Most importantly, he loved his family and the community of friends he built throughout the years-always taking care to make sure those around him knew they were loved.

MT is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda S. Hall; two daughters, Michelle Wright (Chris) and  Lynn Hall (Erin);  step-son, Michael Rawls (Lisa); step-daughter, Angela Strubbe (Sean); brother, Stewart “Nick” Hall (Janet); sister, Nancy Hall Slade; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and seven nieces and nephews. MT was preceded in death by one son, Robert Hall.

A celebration of life for MT will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 871 Tulls Creek Road, Moyock, N.C., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023. A private graveside service will be held in Madison, Wis.  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gideons International.

When I was just four or five years old he used to take me to feed the ducks at some pond in Sanford Florida. I would with vanilla wafers in hand be ready to feed them and the ducks would attack me to get to the nilla wafers I was holding in my hands. The ducks are gnawing at my little hands and uncle Mert would pick me up and leave. To make it all better he would let me stand in his lap and let me stear his car all the way back home. He made me a happy little boy. Gonna miss ya uncle Mert!!

I loved being around him and Linda. He always had a good story or joke. I think the funniest memory I have is he and I playing golf with a potato. Of course, we both blamed each other as to whose fault it was as who started it. Will miss him.

Why were you a jackass to me! I was young I wanted to learn. You were hard on me, I still love you MT. May God bless you and welcome you into eternal love!
