MONONA - Bruce E. Levers, age 61, of Monona, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023. He was born on Aug. 11, 1961, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Carl and Merlene (Hill) Levers.


Bruce graduated from Waterloo Central High School, Waterloo, Iowa, with the class of 1980.  He married Julia Wallin on Aug. 11, 1982. Bruce worked as a chef at Waunakee Manor, where he enjoyed cooking for and interacting with the residents. In his free time, he enjoyed disc golfing and spending time with family and friends, including cooking for them.


Bruce is survived by his wife, Julia; sons, Marcus (Angela) Levers, Matthew (Elaina) Levers and Garth (Laura Gordon) Levers; grandchildren, Owen, Mariella "Elly," Wyatt and Lilliana Levers; brothers, Garrett Levers, Roger Levers, Michael Levers and Anthony Levers; sisters, Carlene Conely, Kay Sonnenburg and Theresa Anderson; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Fred and Margaret Wallin; sister, Ronda Hogan; and foster-sister, Fern Baldwin.


A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Very sorry to hear about Bruce. He and Julie were some of the first friends we made on the North side so many years ago. He had a big voice and a big heart to match - always willing to help with anything. We are saddened by the news and wish his family our heartfelt condolences.
