Obituary

MADISON - Ronald James “Ron” Baeseman, age 78, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Oakwood Village- Meadows. He was born on October 19, 1945, in Wausau, Wis., the son of Marvin and Helen (Schoenrock) Baeseman.


Ron graduated from Wausau High School in 1963 and went on to graduate with a master’s degree from UW-Stout. Prior to retirement, he worked as a computer programmer for State of Wisconsin.


Ron was an avid reader, enjoyed watercolor painting, and loved traveling. He would travel with Elderhostel all around the world. Ron was very involved in his church, Lake Edge Lutheran Church, and sang in the choir for decades. He loved attending his kids’ sporting events and teaching them life lessons along the way.


Ron is survived by his significant other, Sandra Person; sons, Craig (Janet) Baeseman and Clark (Angie Fadness) Baeseman; grandchildren, Jordan (Carrie) Baeseman, McKenzie (Cameron) Logan, Sam Baeseman and Paul Baeseman; great-grandchildren, Annie, Rosie, Ellis, and Baby Logan on the way in early 2025; former wife, Carol Baeseman; brother, Terry Baeseman; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtis Baeseman; and sister, Jan Anderson.


A memorial service will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, with Pastor Justin Dittrich presiding.  Burial will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

Ron was an amazing person, someone who shared his talent and most importantly, his friendship. I enjoyed working with him and appreciated his friendship over the years. He introduced me to Lake Edge Lutheran and was my sponsor. I still attend Lake Edge when I am in WI and will miss seeing Ron's smiling face but rejoice in knowing he is finally home. Rest in Peace.

Many early fond memories of Ron, Carol and family when we both lived in the Madison area. I grew up not far from Ron’s family in Wausau who owned a shoe store. When we married and moved to Madison area we met one Sunday a month at Carol’s folks in Poynette, Wisconsin. Ron and Carol’s parents were special folks!!! Over the years we lost contact with all of them so this comes as a shock and with Sincere Heartfelt Sympathy. Al and Jill Russell
