Obituary

MENOMONEE FALLS/FITCHBURG - Bonnie Jeranek, age 74, of Fitchburg, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022. She was born on April 23, 1948, in Madison, the daughter of Robert and Sylvia (Femrite) Doerfer. Bonnie grew up on her parent's dairy farm in Fitchburg, along with her sisters, Shirley and Karen.

Bonnie graduated from Oregon High School with the class of 1966 and from UW-Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in library science.  She was united in marriage to Gerald “Gerry” Jeranek on Sept. 29, 1973. They made their home in Menomonee Falls.  Bonnie worked for the Menomonee Falls School District for over 18 years.

In 2003 with Gerry by her side, they took over management of the farm to continue her family’s legacy. She shared her love of the farm with her family and friends by inviting them to fun-filled gatherings, holidays and scrapbook weekends.

Bonnie passed her love of the farm to her daughters, Kate (Brian) Dzierzewski and Jodi (fiancé, Erich Rambo) Jeranek; grandchildren, Olivia and Luke Dzierzewski; and her nephew, nieces and great-nieces and great-nephews by telling stories around the farm table, watching and catching kittens in the barnyard and creating Easter Egg hunts. All with lots of fun and laughter. Bonnie’s family is blessed with the many beautiful scrapbooks she created over the years which have preserved the wonderful memories of loved ones being at the farm with her.

In addition to her husband and daughters, Bonnie is survived by her two sisters, Shirley (William) Larsen and Karen Doerfer-Daily (Bill) Zander; sister in-law, Sharon (Paul) Stelter; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Stuart Daily.

A gathering of family, friends and neighbors will be held on the farm at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, to celebrate Bonnie's life. To honor Bonnie’s love of cats and in lieu of donations, the family requests all donations be sent to a humane society of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I am truly thankful and blessed that I got the opportunity to meet and develop a friendship with Bonnie. I especially liked our 'adventures, road trips' and 'girl time'. I am so very sorry to lose a dear and kind friend, confidante. Heaven really is making out with her bubbly, playful personality. RIP Bonnie! PS. Will miss my scrapbook roomie :(

My heart goes out to Bonnie's family. You have my deepest sympathies. Bonnie was always so gentle and kind to me. I loved seeing her smile and I enjoyed her presence at my scrapbooking events. I'm glad our paths crossed because of scrapbooking. Cherish the books she created with love. I hope through them you will find comfort and peace. Bonnie will be missed.

What can I say about this wonderful human being? I had the pleasure of being in her presence a few times and she always had this warm and welcoming spirit. The sun is a little dimmer here on earth without her here. To her family and close friends, may God send his angel with the largest, softest wings to hold you and give you comfort and peace today and everyday going forward.
