LODI- Michael B. Greene, age 57, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

 

He was born on December 23, 1964, in Akron, Ohio.  He lived most of his life in Naperville, IL just recently moving to his long time second home on Lake Wisconsin.


Michael was a 1983 graduate of Naperville North High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University. On June 15, 1991, he married Suzanne Fresh.


Michael owned and operated Automated Information Systems and pursued many other entrepreneurial endeavors as well as supporting his son’s businesses.


He was an active leader in Boy Scouts as well as a youth mentor and Stephen Minister at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church in Naperville, IL.


Michael was always there for his family and friends, “Mr. Fix It” doing projects to improve the homes he lived in.  He loved adventure and travel, his favorite activity was spending time with family and friends at the lake. He enjoyed boating, jet skiing, snow and water skiing.  He loved creating memories through experiences with his family from sporting events and concerts, wine dinners with his wife, parachuting, scuba diving, and even flying a fighter jet. He lived his life to the fullest and never let anything hold him back.


In addition to his wife, Suzanne; survivors include his sons, Nicholas (Kristin) and Benjamin; his mother, Joy Greene; his brother, Rich Greene; his uncle, Douglas (Heather) Greene; his father and mother-in-law, Barry and Susan Fresh; sisters-in-law, Tami (Nick) Tocci and Brandi (Toby) Woller; nieces and nephews; and many friends.


He was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Erin Fresh; grandparents, Hershel and Maxine Cudd; Richard C. and Peggy Greene.


A Memorial Service will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, with Reverend Chris Wilson presiding. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCFA), Agrace Hospice, or National Brain Tumor Society (meningioma research).

We have been honored to call Mike a friend, although that doesn’t accurately describe a relationship that started in college when Mike and Suzanne began spending time with Mike and I. We have been able to grow up together; from crazy college antics to participating in and witnessing their nuptials, celebrated the birth of Nick and Ben, and have had many years of laughter, joyful celebrations and created countless memories. Mike was always willing to take the time to support anyone with anything they may need, always with grace, a kind word and an infectious smile. He lived his life by setting an example of what it meant to live life to the fullest, being a supportive husband, an amazing father, a mentor and treasured friend. Mike was the ultimate friend. Having met him all the way back in the 7th grade in Jefferson Jr High School there are truly a lifetime of shared experiences and fond memories. From the early school days, high school, college, our weddings, the birth of our children and the numerous family events and vacations spent together over all these years, so many great memories. Mike was wonderful husband, father and friend always willing to lend a hand or advice when you needed help. We are all better people for knowing him and having him in our lives. Larry and I met Mike and family several years ago through a family member that was Mike and Suzanne's neighbor in Wisconsin. We enjoyed meals, boat rides, laughs, and many great conversations together. We lived close to Mike and Suzanne's Naperville home and soon shared time together outside of Wisconsin as well. Never have we met a more genuine and kinder person than Mike. His strength and positive attitude throughout his health struggles was unparalleled. Knowing Mike enriched our lives. He will be truly missed. Our heartfelt sympathy to Suzanne, Nick, and Ben. Mike was one of the best.

I was blessed to have Michael as my son. He was the best! He never let any difficulties keep him from moving ahead with living life with grace. As a son father, husband and friend to many he was giving and caring . He truly lived a good life. I wish he could have stayed. I was supposed to go first. My only comfort is that I know he goes to his deserved reward. I hope he knew how much I loved him.
