Obituary

MADISON- Barbara A. Hammond, age 84, of Oregon, passed away on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at Sienna Crest.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.  Barbara was born on Jan. 3, 1938, in Madison, the daughter of Francis and Angeline (Olson) Maloney.


Barbara worked as a daycare provider for many years.  She was always smiling and enjoyed visiting with people. Her smile, laughter and stories of her childhood will be missed.


Barbara is survived by her daughters, Regina (Jeff) Mauel and Laura Hammond; grandchild, Jessica Hammond; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Dominic and Cameron; two brothers, Terry (Kelli) Maloney and Richard (Susan) Maloney; and sister, Mary Traino.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; infant son, Robert "Bobby" John Hammond; parents, Francis and Angeline; sister, Patty Mae (Robert) Wallace; and brother-in-law, George Thomas Traino.

Grammy, I don’t know where to start but here it goes. You have been my rock my entire life. We were always tied at the hip from the moment I was born. You always took me everywhere with you no matter where it was I was right there with you. When you were taking care of great grandma Maloney aunt Bennie and aunt Dorothy I was right there with you. Even when you were taking care of uncle Dutch and aunt marge. I have learned so much from you as a person and how to be a compassionate caring loving person who always wears her heart on her sleeve. You always made me feel special in my wyd nobody could. You made the world feel better when I was hurting but most of all you accepted me for me and nothing more. I love and miss you so much that this honestly feels like a dream that some day I’ll wake up from but I know that will not happen but just know I’ll be ok. Us 3 girls and the kids will be ok I promise you.

Well grandma it’s been 19 days since you passed away and I’ve been so lost without you. I’m more lost now then I was when my dad passed away last year but the only difference was that I had you to lean on when I was down and out especially now. This Christmas is one of the hardest holidays ever. I still pick up the phone trying to call you so I can tell you about my day or just talk but then it hits me really hard that I can’t cus you’re with poppa and uncle Bobby. They needed you more then ever and I hope and pray that they were there at heavens gate to embrace you as you got to heaven. I need you so bad right now but I know you’re not suffering anymore and you’re happy dancing with poppa and uncle Bobby. I miss you so much grandma more then ever. I love you. Rest up angel I love you grandma…..

Well grammie it’s been 2 1/2 months since you were called home and not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. I miss you so much more then you’ll ever know honestly. Things have been difficult to say the least cus of everything going on and now I’m facing yet another surgery and all I want to do is call you up and tell you everything. I miss our talks and u calling me at night just to talk before u go to bed. I love u so much gram.
