MAZOMANIE/BLACK EARTH - Monica “Monnie/Mona” Moore, age 65, passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wis., from complications due to ALS. She was born on June 13, 1957, in Madison, the daughter of Donald Cushman and Margaret Cushman (Schlough).
Monica grew up in the country near Black Earth with her four siblings, Larry, Julie, Mark and Scott Cushman. She attended the Wisconsin Heights school district until graduating in 1975, whereafter she attended nursing school in Minnesota.
Monica married her husband, Michael Moore, in 1980 and they had three children, Dominic, David and Melinda. Grandchildren entered her life in 2018 with Danielle and later Quinn (Dominic).
She held several jobs throughout her life, but she spent most of years as an OBGYN medical assistant. She always received glowing praise and love from dozens of patients that she helped through the rigors of pregnancy.
Monica held a deep Catholic faith that was in tune with her generous, giving spirit. She was always willing to help family and friends regardless of the inconvenience to herself. She was always joyful and met each situation with a smile and a hug if needed. The world truly is a dimmer place without her bountiful light.
Monica is survived by her husband, Michael Moore; children, Dominic Moore (Erika Kiesling), David Moore (Ashley Robson) and Melinda Moore; two grandchildren, Danielle and Quinn Kiesmore; mother, Margaret Cushman (Schlough); sister, Julie Cushman; and brothers, Larry (Mary) Cushman, Mark (Carla) Cushman and Scott Cushman. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and father, Donald Cushman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, with a luncheon to follow. A graveside service will follow the luncheon at St. Barnabas Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO BLACK EARTH FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1710 Center St., Black Earth, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
