Obituary

MADISON - Patricia Louise (Braun) Frydenlund died peacefully in the early morning hours of Dec. 3, 2022, after a short, unexpected illness. She was surrounded by her adored husband, Melford, with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage on Nov. 18. Her daughters and grandchildren provided tender loving care to Mom and Grandma during her journey home for Christmas.

Pat attended school at St. Bernard Church from 1951-1953, Immaculate Heart of Mary from 1954-1956, and graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1960.

Pat and Mel lived in the same home on Camden Road for 58 years raising five daughters, Martha (Herman) Fillinger, Carol (Peter) DoII, Debbie (Brandon) Moran, Rita Webber and Rose (James) Beveridge, and 10 grandchildren, Austin and Brooks Beveridge, Lars, Erik and Hanna Doll, Colton and Blake Moran, Tiffany and Casey Webber and our Heavenly Angel, Amanda. As the third oldest of 13 brothers and sisters, Pat loved her family and remained active in their lives and with their families of 35 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Judy Grudzina; brother, Joseph Braun; parents, Edmund and Jane Braun, and granddaughter, Amanda Beveridge

Mom and Dad's house was a home of memories, love, pictures, books, genealogy research, and strangers who become friends. She knew where everything was in her house and would say "don't move that around!" There wasn't an invitation for a concert, dinner with family or friends or family celebration that didn't get accepted. Pat became the family photographer, taking pictures at every gathering and returning photo albums full of memories to the host.

Pat retired in 2021 after 37 years as a Special Education Assistant with the Madison Metropolitan School District-Whitehorse Middle School, Gompers Elementary School, La Follette High School and Glendale Elementary School. She worked with all grade levels but found her groove working with 4K students at Glendale for over 10 years. Students referred to her as "Miss Pat" and remembered her loving but firm expectations of them long after they left elementary school. Pat also worked as a cashier at Farm and Fleet, Treasure Island and Arlen’s Department Stores, a waitress at Leske's Supper club and with Carson Gulley Catering in the 1960s with Mel, and at the Harp and Kettle Cheese House during the Christmas season. Pat and Mel are members of Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Dennis Parishes.

Although many tears of disbelief and loss were shed, Pat appreciated that not many are told that they will journey home soon and be given a chance to share this. She reminds us to be proud of who you are, your family and that every life matters. As we experience new opportunities, stay in touch with all those who have been in your life; they have helped you become who you are today.

This is life. Be strong.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 501 Dempsey Road, Madison at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.

The family would like to thank Father Jogi Allam for loving the Frydenlund family as his own, Mom's Agrace Hospice care team who supported us through this very difficult time, Dr. James Ircink and Dr. Jeremy Kratz for Mom's care and treatment guidance and the love shown to us by our immediate and extended family and friends. I will miss Pat. Being my cousin, guidance after losing my mom, and a great friend. I knew her in her family role and as a great special educational assistant. She never minced words which is one of my fondance memories. You helped the entire Mickey/Braun families celebrate always. During our last conversation you thanked me for being part of celebrations. You will always be part of future celebrations. I hear your laugh and will miss you dearly. You were at peace with your death, another trait I envy. Love you always cousin

Hello, my name is Arlene and I worked with Patti at Henderson/glendale elementary for a couple of years. I am going to miss her sense of humor, ability to communicate with her eyes, and her love for her family. I’ll miss seeing her on the porch when I drive by or at the store. Sending love to you all. 💕

I remember how much fun Pat was with her camera at Martha and Herman’s Christmas “friends” party every year at the lake. She wasn’t going to let you get to far without a picture or two and if you tried to escape getting your picture taken Pat for sure would come and find you. Pat was a wonderful and generous woman. Always positive and uplifting to be around. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family.

Pat and I worked together to record the 50th year History of IHM parish in 2000. It was a wonderful collaboration with a beautiful and charming person, which I will never forget. We last talked a few months ago while attending mass at St. Dennis Church. Pat was one of God’s chosen people who has influenced many lives with her loving and caring attitude. I will miss her Don Hebl
