MADISON / OREGON - Lorraine Broske, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Columbus, Wis. She was born in Greenleaf, Wis., on June 7, 1928, to Julius and Nettie Buechler.
On June 12, 1948, Lorraine married her beloved husband, James Broske at St. Boniface Church in Milwaukee, Wis. James and Lorraine moved to Madison, Wis., in 1959 where they raised their family. After her retirement from Curtin Call answering service, Lorraine moved to Oregon, Wis., and began a part-time job with St. John's Lutheran Church where she enjoyed assisting in the office and socializing.
Lorraine enjoyed gardening, knitting, spoiling her grandkids, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling as much as she was able to. Lorraine was also known for being a social butterfly and her delicious pies that she would make for all family functions.
Lorraine is survived by eight of her nine children, Dennis (Jerry Dunbar) Broske, Cheryl (Roger) Legler, Roberta (Mark) Nelson, Dale (Ann) Broske, Donald (Sherry) Broske, David (Terry) Broske, Sandi D'Antoni and Nancy Ward; and special son, Bob Lewin. Lorraine is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; daughter, Karen Foster; sons-in-law, Steven Foster and Calvin Ward; brother, Larry Buechler; parents; and many other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove, Wis. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
