Obituary

Sophia Annalise Geneman took the world by storm on Dec. 19, 2017. Known to her family as "Spoopy" and most everyone else as Sophie, she spent her early years devoted to the traditional pursuits; eating, sleeping, and providing her loving family with light, joy, and full diapers at regular intervals.

Sophie's accomplishments include knowing her colors, counting to 10, and consuming her (approximate) weight in yogurt. A budding actress, she had a flair for the dramatic and a facial expression for every occasion. Although she sometimes struggled with picking up her toys in a timely fashion, she was known to say "please" and "thank you" consistently, particularly in situations relating to snack and/or juice acquisition. Her great loves included her mommy, Goldfish crackers, her mommy, playing on her swing set, her mommy, Disney princesses, and her mommy.

In July of 2022, Sophie was diagnosed with brain cancer and shortly thereafter began chemotherapy treatments. Although she fought as hard as Raya, like far too many other children before her, she lost her battle with cancer on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022. She is lovingly remembered by her mommy, Samantha, her daddy Jason, her sister Melody, her Grammie Carol, her Grandma Marsha and Grandpa Allan, her Uncle John and "Big" Al, Auntie "Bunna" Brenna, Auntie "Bud" Mackenzie, and Uncle "Mission" Nathan.

A funeral service will be held at BETH ISRAEL CENTER, 1406 Mound St., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022.

Sophie's family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Sophie's family also extends their deep and heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Children's Hospital of Wisconsin for their dedication and care during Sophie's cancer treatment.
