Obituary
BROOKLYN - Robert W. "Bob" Salvisberg, age 91, of Brooklyn, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Sept. 19, 1931, in Plymouth, Sheboygan County, the son of William "Bill” and Marie (Steach) Salvisberg. Bob graduated from Brooklyn High School with the class of 1951. He was united in marriage to Doris Nottestad on Aug. 11, 1956, at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954. Bob worked as a Welder for the Dane County Highway Department from 1968 until his retirement in 1994.
Bob enjoyed camping, traveling and playing cards, building model cars, attending local fairs, family reunions and showing his 1962 Rambler in various car shows and parades. He was a member of the Brooklyn-Oregon American Legion Post No. 160, the F & AM Oregon Masonic Lodge No. 151, Good Sam's Club and St. John's Lutheran Church in Oregon. Bob recently learned how to work a tablet, where he enjoyed playing games, video chatting with others and seeing his family photos.
Bob is survived by four daughters, Joan Sigler, Teresa (Gary) Hawkinson, Julie (Scott Hosking) Salvisberg and Kristi (Wayne) Meyer. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an unborn infant; wife, Doris; and daughter, Karen Salvisberg.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Brooklyn, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023.
