Obituary
MADISON - Mary “Jean” Wescott, age 93, of Madison, passed away with family by her side at St. Mary’s Hospital on Friday, July 28, 2023. She was born on Aug. 15, 1929, in Fitchburg, Wis., the daughter of Ged and Frances (Lalor) Gundlach.
Jean graduated from Oregon High School, and Madison Area Technical College. She married William “Bill” Wescott in 1973 and had a daughter, Nicolet.
Jean was a computer programmer/analyst for the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue for nearly 30 years. She would often say: “Once an analyst, always an analyst.” Jean taught computer courses at MATC.
After retirement, Jean went to work at Traux Field Airport at one of the gift shops. She loved being around people. Jean loved to travel and spend winters in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; daughter, Nicolet Wescott; sister, Evelyn (Elton) Paus; two brothers, Herb Gundlach and Tom (Sue) Gundlach; brother-in-law, Jack Riley; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Gundlach; and niece, Vicki Volenberg. She is survived by her sister, Peggy Riley; brothers, Howard (Barb) and Jerry (Kathy); sister-in-law, Jeanne Gundlach; several nieces and nephews; and many other friends.
A chapel service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.
