William Jackson

MADISON - William Joseph “Bill” Jackson, age 56, of Fitchburg, died unexpectedly in his sleep on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022. He was born on Sept. 18, 1966, in Madison, the son of Jonathan D. "Squeak" Jackson Jr. and Joanne (Coyne) Jackson. Bill married Jennifer Mueller on May 4, 2006, and later had two children, Greyson and Delaney.

Bill graduated from Madison West High School in 1984 and then attended UW-Madison where he majored in History. After college, Bill worked in marketing and business development for construction and restoration companies for over 30 years with his most recent position at KSW Construction Corporation located in Verona, WI. Bill will fondly be remembered (he would like to be remembered) as a Madison All City Wrestler, an avid Packers and Badgers fan, an expert fisherman, an amazing storyteller and that guy with the infectious laugh who would give his shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved his family beyond measure and was so proud of his children. Since he told Laney how proud of her writing he was, below is Laney’s unedited memorial to her father, which speaks to just a few of his wonderful qualities.

"Bill Jackson was a kind-hearted, caring person. He cared TONS and tons about his kids, Grey and Delaney, and loved them deeply. His posts on Facebook were always about what his daughter had said or how proud he was of her and his posts about his son were about his Homecoming and how proud he was of him too. I (his daughter) remember going upstairs while having a bad day and him asking what’s wrong and him telling me he loved me and good night every night.

My dad made friends with everyone, from the gas station attendant to the top person.

I said, “Wow dad, you really can be friends with everyone” and he told me “well it is better to be nice than not, right?” His friends adored him more than I could imagine and he always told me stories about him and his friend “Boz” having the time of their lives together. He also cared for people he didn’t know. One time I was in the car with him and there was a homeless person (fake or real, I don’t know) who had a sign and my dad rolled down his window and handed him $20. I told him, “That person could’ve been fake you know?” and he replied, “Yeah well it’s always good to help people.” He just never stopped loving people.

He was and still is the best dad me and Greyson could have ever hoped and dreamed for and we love him always for that."

Bill is survived by his wife, Jennifer Jackson; son, Greyson Jackson; daughter, Delaney Jackson; sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Jackson (special friend, Dave Wierzba); uncle, Thomas (Shelly) Jackson; aunt, Elizabeth "Wiz" Jackson; nephews, Matthew and Adam Jindra; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill would love for you to send him off with a smile, do right by the world, have fun and above all love and be loyal to those you hold closest. His eternal optimism and generosity has made an impact on countless lives and will be his everlasting legacy. He will forever live on in our hearts. Love ya, Billy the Kid.

A celebration of life will be held at THE DRAFT HOUSE BAR AND RESTAURANT, 1010 Enterprise Drive, Verona, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022.
