Obituary
MADISON - Steven Wayne Johnson, age 61, of Madison, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022. He was born on Dec. 10, 1960, in Waukegan, Ill., the son of Gary and Linnet (Lee) Johnson.
Steven graduated from Bradford High School in 1979. He married Denise Johnson on October 8th in 1994 at St. Bernard church in Middleton. Steven worked as a journeyman carpenter for Sullivan Brothers. He was a union member of Local No. 314 North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, a member of the Dane County Conservation League, National Fishing Lure Collector Club, and was also a member of the Jaycees.
Steven was a loving husband and father and adored his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his cats. He was an avid hunter and passionate fisherman and loved vintage fishing lures and talking about them. He had a great sense of humor and loved to share his knowledge on various topics.
Steven is survived by his wife, Denise; son, Michael (Erica) Johnson; grandchildren, Lilith Ann, and Bo Allen; mother, Linnet; brothers, Randy Johnson and David Johnson; brother-in-law, Robb Bessey, sister-in-law Karen Pawlak (nee Bessey) He was preceded in death by father, Gary; sister, Brenda Johnson; and brother, Robert "Bob" Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022. Visitation held at 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens.
