Obituary
MADISON - Shirley Romelle Sorenson, age 94, of Madison, passed away peacefully with daughter, Linda, and son, Jim, by her side on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at The Koselig House in DeForest, Wis. She was born on Jan. 7, 1928, in Madison, the daughter of Clarence and Ellen Halvorsen.
Shirley attended East High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Sorenson on June 8, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Madison.
Shirley worked as a homemaker as well as at the UW Hospital cafeteria and Webcrafters Printing Company. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, crafting, gardening, bowling, traveling, going to the casino, and watching the Badgers and Packers football and Brewers baseball.
Shirley is survived by her five children, Linda (Jim) Scott, James (Cheryl), Wayne, Jack (Judy Mirowski) and Debbie (Rod) Pellet; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Halvorsen, Sabra Halvorsen and Elaine Dutcher; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ellen; husband, Robert; son, Richard; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Scott; daughter-in-law, Nancy; sister, Jean Condon; brothers, Clarence “Bud” and Richard; father and mother-in-law, Rasmus and Mabel Sorenson; six sisters-in-law; and seven brothers-in-law.
