Obituary

MOUNT HOREB - Donald Gary Peterson, age 81, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at UW Hospital and Clinics. He was born on June 1, 1941, in Madison, the son of Norman and Mildred (Fankhauser) Peterson.


Donald graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Shirley Zweifel on Sept. 2, 1961, at Springdale Lutheran Church. Don loved farming and did so for many years.


Don had a great sense of humor and was always telling jokes. He loved bowling. Don and Shirley enjoyed traveling and playing cards with friends.


Donald is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Johnson; son, Steve Peterson; grandchild, Amanda Johnson; brother, Paul (Marie) Peterson; as well as other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws.


A funeral service will be held at PERRY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1057 WI-78, Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.


Memorials may be gifted in Don’s name to Perry Lutheran Church or to a charity of your choice.

Shirley, Sorry I missed the visitation. I was on my way this morning and got tied up in a highway 14 closure between Brooklyn and Oregon. To top that off, I went to the Springdale Lutheran Church.
