I’ll never forget a trip Scott Romney and I (Gardner Olson) took with Bret and Ron to St. George, UT for a junior golf tournament circa 1989 held at the St. George Golf Club. It was an awesome time. Bret kept us all on our toes and made us laugh. We stayed at the holiday inn on bluff with the indoor/outdoor pool. We’ll miss you Bret!

Bret was a kind, talented, and supportive coworker. However, it was clear from any interactions with him at work how important Raenee, Cooper, and his family were to him. I remember asking him on a team call what he would like to have more time for. His answer was “spending more time playing with my son.” I also remember him talking excitedly about plans for a trip with his wife. I wish he and his family had more time together. I am honored to have known Bret and I respect that he kept the most important people in his life at the top of mind no matter what he was working on. His compassion and presence will be deeply missed and we are privileged to have known him. I extend my sincere condolences to Raenee, Cooper, and his family. Please know that our hearts and thoughts are with you in this difficult time. We hope you are surrounded and lifted up by family, friends, and all of those who knew Bret.

Bret always greeted me with a big smile and a firm handshake. I appreciated that he seemed interested in me and always asked about my family. His family seemed like the most important thing in the world to him. Bret is one of the good guys.

Raenee, Vangie and I send our heartfelt condolences. It was an honor and privilege to live across the street from you and Bret. We loved seeing Cooper play out front. Bret was always friendly and fun to talk with. We are so fond of him. He was always looking out for us and eager to help us. We missed you when you moved and now we feel a missing spirit along with a grateful memory of Bret. Hugs to you and Cooper. Brad and Vangie Jensen

Keeping Raenee, Cooper, and the entire family in my thoughts and prayers. I had the honor of working closely with Bret over the last year. Bret was always a pleasure to work with, and was loved by his clients and teammates alike. Above all else, Bret was a family-man, who loved his wife and son with all his heart. Chatting about our respective families, and hearing stories about Raenee and Cooper was the primary topic of conversation over dinner in SLC just a few days before his unfortunate passing. Bret was a wonderful person and will be missed by me and many, many other people. -JP Harper
