STOUGHTON - James R. Reuter, 64, died at home on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, of natural causes.
Jim was a lover of cats, an expert on rocks, a photographer, a skilled worker with gems, a talented computer helper and a kind and gentle spirit. He graduated from Riverdale High School in Muscoda in 1977, then from the Wisconsin School of Electronics.
Since returning to his native Wisconsin in 2018 from time working in California and Oregon, he had made new friends at Castle Condos, where he lived, and at the Stoughton Senior Center, where he was a proud member of the Wii bowling team.
The last stretch of Jim’s life was filled with challenges as he dealt with Huntington’s Disease, a progressive degenerative illness, and a number of other health issues. Through it all, he valued his independence and sought to stay engaged with the news of the world and the lives of family and friends.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1958, to Dolores and John Reuter, who lived in Avoca, Wis. They preceded him in death, as did his brother, Robert. He is survived by siblings, John Howard (Sue), Ellen (Phil Haslanger) and Raymond (Lynn); numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat, Sinbad.
There will be a time to honor Jim’s life and gather with his family at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, with memories of Jim at 1:30 p.m.
