Obituary

MADISON - Jacqueline J. “Jaci” Roscoe, age 87, of Madison, passed away at her home on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born in Madison, Wis. the daughter of George and Amanda (Faust) Lawrence.

Upon graduation from Madison’s Central High School in 1953, Jaci began working for the Wisconsin Department of Weights & Measures, and the Legal Aid Society. She then shifted her career path to become a Nurse’s Aide at Madison’s University Hospital before taking time to raise her family. She returned to workforce in 1985 as a Nurse’s Aide for the University Hospital, retiring in 1995.

In the Summer of 1964, Jaci met Jerry Roscoe on a blind date and soon after the two were united in marriage on Sept. 5, lasting an incredible 58 years until her passing.

Despite lifelong debilitating respiratory and cardiac illnesses, Jaci lived an active and productive life. She had a love of all animals, but had a special affinity for dogs, never without one as a pet her entire life. Her love of animals also inspired her to remain vegetarian for over 30 years. Jaci also had a considerable “green thumb” and delighted in acquiring and caring for the outdoor landscaping and unique houseplants in her collection. She was also a movie and history buff and had an extensive knowledge of both.

Jaci rarely let an opportunity go by to say hello to a stranger in hopes of brightening their day, or to simply put a smile on their face. Her charm, intelligence, sharp-wit, kindness and generosity were unparalleled, and anyone spending even a moment in her company were quick to notice and benefit.

Jaci’s family holds a lifetime of wonderful, sweet, humorous, and treasured memories. Although this loss is particularly difficult, her beacon of light will remain shining throughout their lives.

Jaci is survived by husband, Jerry; son, Larry Roscoe; daughter, Kathryn (Tom) Germanotta; three grandchildren, Domenic Germanotta, Santino Germanotta and Giana Germanotta; and her beloved dog, Josie.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James “Jimmy” Lawrence; and nephew, James Brett Lawrence.

In keeping with Jaci's wishes, no services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jaci’s name to Dane County Humane Society (www.giveshelter.org) or Paddy’s Paws Dog Rescue (paddyspaws.blogspot.com).
