Donald Boe

Madison - Donald Osborne Boe, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022. He was born in Madison on Jan. 14, 1932, the son of Ivar Boe and Olga (Knudson) Boe. Donald graduated from Madison East High School and married his copilot, Barbara (Lamphere) Boe, in 1966 in Madison.

Don worked at the UW-Madison Service Department as an electrician for more than 30 years. Don joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951, and after the Koren Conflict ended, he was with Wisconsin Air National Guard until his retirement in 1971 as a Master Sergeant and crew chief.

Don loved flying. He earned various pilot licenses and was a flight instructor and member of the Civil Air Patrol. In addition, he was an Eagle Scout and an Assistant Scout Master for his son’s troops.

Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, David (Sara) Boe; and grandchildren, Chris Boe and Mary Boe. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, with Katya Ouchakof presiding. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
