Joseph Thomas Augustine

MADISON - Joseph Thomas Augustine, age 70, of Madison, was called home on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 25, 1951, ...and didn’t let anyone forget. He was the second child of Joseph and Janet (Thill) Augustine.

Tom graduated from Luther North High School in 1970 and went on to receive his Lay Ministry Certificate from Concordia University. He married Debbie Reder on May 27, 1989.

Tom enjoyed playing guitar in various church bands and found joy in studying the bible. He had an accomplished baseball career in his early years but was held back from making it in the minor leagues due to his health. This didn’t stop him from being a great coach and mentor in the faith through the rest of his life. He loved his family very much and enjoyed having them all together.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Debbie; daughters, Becky (Chad) Enright, Rachael (Brendan) Zachar, Mary Augustine and Katherine Augustine; sons, Joseph (Tracy) Augustine and Jon Augustine; six grandchildren; sister, Linda (Carl) Miklitsch; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at CHRIST MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2833 Raritan Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022. A private burial will follow. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the start of the service on Saturday.
