Obituary

OREGON - Jean Carol (Olson) Ditsch, age 85, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022.  She was born on April 20, 1937, to Olaf and Hazel (Rundhaug) Olson.  Jean enjoyed her early years spent as a well-loved only child on the family farm in the Town of Vermont, Black Earth, Wis.  She moved to Madison with her girlfriends after graduating from Mount Horeb High School and started working at First National Bank.


Jean married Earl on Jan. 12, 1957, at Vermont Lutheran Church. She worked a variety of retail and clerical positions that included Treasure Island, Prange Way, Reliable Insurance, Oregon's Hometown Pharmacy, and finally retiring at age 76 from Stoughton's Walmart.  

Jean enjoyed spending time with her family.  Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Earl and Jean had many great adventures and loved spending time together.  Jean was loved by many people and made friends wherever she went. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and liked to collect cookbooks, snowmen and donkey figurines. Her many dogs through the years were well-loved.

Jean is survived by her husband, Earl; her daughters, Rhonda LaVigne of Michigan, Karla (Donald Moen) Ditsch-Moen of Evansville, Wis., and Diana Ditsch of St. Paul, Minn.; her grandchildren, Jessica (Matt) Long, Raina Rossell, and Niko Rossell; brothers/sisters-in-law, Shirley Broten, Arthur (Mary Pauline) Ditsch, Phillip (Carmen) Ditsch; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; in-laws, Roman and Marian Ditsch; and brothers-in-law, Donald Broten, Russell Ditsch, and Donald Ditsch.

A memorial visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 noon on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022. A luncheon will follow at 12:30 p.m.

I worked with Jean at Treasure Island back in the early '70s. It was a pleasure to see her again at the assisted living facility this past year. We reminisced about the old time and some of people we used to work this.
