James D. "Jim" Ganshert

STOUGHTON - James D. "Jim" Ganshert, age 64, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on December 14, 1959, in Madison, the son of Francis and Frances (Muetz) Ganshert.

Jim and Lori Ring were married on July 17, 1989, and had just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Jim will be remembered for the love he showered upon his family, they were the cornerstone of his life. He always had a dog in his life and had a special bond with his newest canine companion, Crumpet.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and cheering on the Packers, Badgers, Cubs and watching professional wrestling. Jim enjoyed listening to classic rock music. He loved spending time with The East Side Boys, a group of friends who first met in elementary school and continued to have a special bond, especially his best friend, Rick (Patty) Stenli, a friend for over 60 years. Steve (Georgean) Nicholson was also a special part of Jim’s life.

Jim is survived by his wife, Lori; son, Chad (Katie) Ganshert; grandchildren, Macy, Breleigh, Rylee and Landry Ganshert; sister, Mary (Steve) Thayer; sisters-in-law, Sue Ganshert and Beth (Steve) Hanson; aunt, Jonnie Teubert; nieces and nephews, Erin, Amy, Eric, Tylor and Corey and their families; father-in-law, Ervin Ring; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fran and Fran; brother, Larry; sister, Sue; and mother-in-law, Mabel Ring.

A celebration of life will be held at VFW POST 328, 200 Veterans Road, Stoughton, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.
