HOUSTON, Texas / MAZOMANIE, Wis. - Donald Edward Hodgson, age 89, of Houston, Texas and Mazomanie, Wis., passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at Brookdale Galleria in Houston. He was born on May 31, 1933, in Mazomanie, the son of Joseph and Effie Hodgson. Donald married Dorothy Endres on Dec. 4, 1959, in Madison.
Donald graduated from Mazomanie High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force, then in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as an Airport Control Operator from 1953 to 1961. Donald moved to Sarasota, Fla., in 1960 then to Saint Petersburg in 1970. After a long career in telecommunications, he retired from General Telephone & Electric (GTE, now Verizon). After retirement, he moved between homes in Mazomanie and St. Petersburg. After the passing of Dorothy in 2014, he moved to be closer to family in New Orleans, La., and then to Houston in 2020.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Donna Hodgson (Carlos Burns) of Houston, Texas; siblings, Ben Hodgson, Phil Hodgson, Averil Sutcliffe, Barbara Paar, Joseph Hodgson, Paul Hodgson, Verna Wallace and Edwin Hodgson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Claude Hodgson; sister, Evelyn Roessler; and daughter, Denice M. Hodgson.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1710 Center Street, Black Earth, from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, concluding with full military honors.
