Obituary
MADISON - James R. Hronek, age 79, passed in Minneapolis on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, from being hit walking across a crosswalk by a motor vehicle.
Jim was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on April 22, 1943, the son of Bob and Mary Margaret (O'Leary) Hronek. Jim attended Regis High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and upon graduation, he went to Loras College in Dubuque where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He married Judy Stevenson on Aug. 20, 1966. Jim had a long career in the insurance business as a loss control consultant and retired on Sept. 18, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Beth (Gary) Holznagel and Bob (Kathy) Hronek; and his precious grandkids, Katelyn and Jake Hronek and Austin and Aubrey Holznagel. He is also survived by his brother, Tom (Janet) Hronek; nephew and niece, Tanner and Amy Hronek; brother-in-law, David (Jan Mullin) Stevenson; and nephews, Scott (Kara) and Brian (Denise) Hansen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, and also from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
