Obituary
WAUNAKEE - Roscoe Sinclair Sawle, age 87, of Waunakee, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, at SSM St. Clare Hospice House. He was born on March 27, 1935, in Madison, the son of Rowe and Esther (Gratz) Sawle.
Roscoe graduated from Arena High School in 1953. He married Shirley (Moyer) Sawle on Feb. 12, 1956, at Blue Mounds Lutheran Church. They were together for 57 years at the time of Shirley’s passing. Roscoe served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He worked as an assembly worker for General Motors, retiring in 1992.
Roscoe enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He loved coaching kids’ baseball, and he did so for over 20 years. He also enjoyed playing and watching golf.
Roscoe is survived by his two sons, Rod Sawle and Gregory Sawle; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild who is due in December. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and his parents.
A funeral service will be held at West Blue Mounds Lutheran Church, 2962 Church St., Blue Mounds, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022. Burial will be held at West Blue Mounds Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
