Obituary

MADISON - Terry A. Huxtable, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022. He was born in Madison, Wis., on July 24, 1938, the son of Spencer and Audrey (Thompson) Huxtable. Terry was married to Marilyn (Govier) Huxtable for 49 years. They raised three boys and enjoyed time with their granddaughters.

Terry attended Central High School, graduating in 1956.  He then entered the U.S. Navy for a three-year term, where he learned Data Processing skills. Upon completion of his service, he utilized those skills for a career in Data Processing, initially with the State Department of Public Welfare (Health and Social Services), Department of Taxation (Revenue) and the University of Wisconsin-Extension and later with Seneca Foods Corporation of Janesville, where he retired after 18 years of service.

Terry loved Madison. Outside of his service in the Navy, he lived in the Madison area his whole life. Terry loved to travel, visiting all seven continents. He and Marilyn joined many tours with Butch and Joyce Butler, Theater Bus excursions and Badger Bus mystery trips. He was also a good storyteller, using experiences from his travels as content for his many stories.

Terry is survived by his sons, Doug (Sue) Huxtable, Jeff (Kathy) Huxtable and Brian (Kate) Huxtable; his granddaughters, Natalie, Megan, Rebecca and Sarah; and his sister, Patricia Huxtable. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Ronald Olson; and half-brother, Richard Huxtable.

My husband & I are trip leaders for Theater Bus. Terry was always such a pleasure to have with us. Everyone so enjoyed talking with him. He was also on a trip that we took on the Canadian Rocky Railroad. We could tell that Terry was having some medical issues so we just kept an eye on him as he was having such a great time. Terry will be missed by all at Theater Bus. Our prayers to the family. Howie & Asta Blanchar

I've always admired Uncle Terry's desire for adventure, especially his love for ziplining which he continued to do well into his senior years while traveling. One unforgettable memory was from August 2015 when Terry offered to take me ziplining for my birthday...it definitely turned out to be quite an adventure! Uncle Terry had quite a sense of humor and wonderful smile! His presence will be greatly missed.
