Obituary
MADISON - Jean Phipps Higley, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 17, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Holobuski) Stiver.
Jean married Richard Valentino, and they were blessed with four children. Later, she married Eber “Bud” Higley and he passed away in 1993.
Jean loved sewing, embroidering, cross-stitching, solving crosswords and baking. She was an avid reader from mysteries to biographies. She loved being outside, walking and watching the birds.
Jean’s family was very important to her. They will fondly remember her for being, loving, kind and caring, and will miss her wonderful sense of humor and witty personality.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Laura (Jeffrey) Walker and Helen Valentino; son, Paul Valentino; grandchildren, Lindsay Valentino, Helen Diane (Darius Chancey) Glasner, David, and Rex Valentino; great-grandchildren, Leeyah, Jordan, and Darius Jr.; and brother, Bill Stiver. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Richard Valentino and Eber "Bud" Higley; daughter, Marla Glasner; daughter-in-law, Karla Valentino; sisters, Dorothy (Wally) Dancik and Mary Ann Kurth; and brother, Harry Stiver Jr.
