Obituary
Karen Elizabeth McCarty, age 83, of Verona, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Noel Manor at Legacy, Verona. She was born on March 16, 1942, in Wausau, the daughter of John Hudek and Agnes (Thoen) Burt.
Karen graduated from Newman Catholic High School in Wausau. She worked at AT&T for many years until her retirement. Karen enjoyed cross stitching, singing, watching movies and reading. She loved her cats. Karen supported PBS and was a member of Lutheran Church of the Living Christ.
Karen was a Madison resident for over 30 years. She enjoyed her home in the Arboretum. The last several years of her life were spent at Noel Manor at Legacy in Verona.
Karen is survived by her son, John Nezda; sister, Jeanne Fehr; and former husbands, Douglas McCarty and Robert Nezda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters.
